The firm’s creative designs are influenced by Marguerite’s career achievements in the landscaping industry, education, and vast knowledge of plants and landscape materials. Her design philosophies feature Michigan-sourced, weather-hearty plants as well as unique and sometimes harder to locate but still durable materials.
Our small-business team supports local economy nurseries and utilizes our community’s experts and Veterans who are highly skilled in gardening and horticulture.

The firm of Marguerite N. Decker Landscape Design and Maintenance spans four decades of designing, constructing, and maintaining residential and commercial landscapes in Michigan. Our designs feature American, European, and Asian influences with emphasis on how the garden and property will be used, its ecology, and garden / home / building balance and cohesiveness. We secure plant materials with special consideration for species interaction, soil type/acidity, sunlight access, spatial needs, and climate. Our designs promote the property’s physical growth, enhance value, and extend its longevity. Warranties are offered on our sourced plant materials.
Our design process begins and ends with you. From our initial conversations we focus on the client’s family or business landscape requirements and affordability. We design every garden utilizing regular client consultations, on-site meetings, electronic communications, construction, completion, and follow-up maintenance if desired. Your landscaping is individualized, is a sound investment, and exceeds expectations to the best of our and our nursery partners’ abilities.
Our designs range from smaller beautifications to entirely new and refurbished landscaping projects. They cross a wide spectrum and scope of sizes, from current season completions to multi-year developing projects and cost spreads.
We feature design innovation, practicality, and common sense. We know plant materials. As importantly, we are sensitive to your desired level of maintenance, whether low maintenance or enhanced or in between.
We have worked for years with the highest quality nurseries throughout the state and have maintained that special knack for being able to identify and locate beautiful, beyond-the-ordinary plants, trees, planters, water features, and stone and brick work for truly unique gardens and grounds. We are in contact year round with those nurseries to anticipate seasonal first access to the choice and highest quality plant materials.
Marguerite personally oversees all planning and construction. She advises, answers, and explains in layman’s terms to ensure accurate garden development, clear communications, and delivery of the client’s intent and expectations.
